Rain

by Vineetha Mokkil | 2009

The sky darkened
Without prologue
The rain outside
Our hotel room
Like a requiem
Was it Paris, Delhi or Rome?
Dawn or noon?
Night, on the rocks
With a savage twist of lime?
The rain throbs like a vein
A steady pulse
On every continent
Beating the same sad rhythm
Of our goodbyes.
